113-1 Semester (Including Summer) Non-Departmental Application for Service Learning Courses

The program will be offered during the summer of 113 or during the 113-1 semester.

 

1.Application Period: Please submit the complete application documents before 17:00 on April 3, 113th year (Wed). Late submission or incomplete documents will not be accepted and paper copies will be returned.

 

2.Application documents:

Please register online for application information and submit the paper application documents for course opening.

①Service Learning Application Form (including teaching assistants) list:

ⅰ.Each course unit can only apply to open one course per semester.

ⅱ.Senior students are given priority for assistants, and they cannot be students taking the course.

②Course Proposal: New course openings, courses taught for 6 semesters, or courses taught for more than three years (considered as new course openings) all require submission. There is no specific format for the proposal, but it must comply with the course opening review standards outlined in point four.

 

*Paper copies should be submitted to Ms.Yeh, Student Activities Division (Tel: 3366-2066, ext. 19).

3.Course Opening Review Standards:

(1) The course content aligns with the purpose of the club's establishment, conducted through service-learning, and approved by the Service-Learning Course Opening Review Committee.

(2) For new course units: The review focuses on whether there is a detailed plan for the following: service content that aligns with non-profit volunteer services, non-religious, non-political course objectives, explanation of the target audience, student service operation planning, student training implementation methods, and any special requirements for the course.

4. Explanation of Application Form:

(1) Course Objectives: Purpose of opening the course, learning objectives for students taking the course, service objectives, etc.

(2) Explanation of Target Audience: Who are the service recipients? How to select the target recipients for this service?Why is this service needed?

(3) Student Service and Assignment  Planning: This includes service planning and assignment planning. For service planning, please provide specific details such as time, location, venue, frequency, schedule, and content of activities. For assignment planning, please be specific about the assignment (need to align with school policy to have at least three assignments: midterm reflection, end of semester tips, and video tips)

(4) Implementation Method of Student Training: Please provide specific details about the instructor, course content, hours. The course content should be related to the knowledge and skills required for the service and course reflection.

(5) Special Requirements for the Course: Are there any restrictions on participants, special requirements, etc.?

(6) Course Opening Application can choose to offer Service Learning (A) or (B), as explained below:

  • Service Learning (A): Based on the principles of integrating service and learning, caring for campus life, offered by various departments, student clubs, or administrative units.

  • Service Learning (B): Based on the principle of offering on-campus and off-campus services by departments, student clubs, or administrative units, it can be combined with on-campus and off-campus volunteer groups for implementation.

 

5.TA Tasks:

(1) Complete the basic TA training hours: Including briefings, on-campus lectures, and off-campus teaching, totaling 10 hours.

(2) Main TA duties:

①Supervise the submission of student assignments.

②Monitor the progress of teachers in submitting final grades.

③Submit the final reflection report.

④Recommend outstanding students.

 

6.Please pay attention to the following points:

(1) The number of course participants must be at least 5 to start the course.

(2) TA cannot be students taking the course.

(3) Non-department TA will be subsidized by theStudent Activities Division, limited to one TA per course.

(4) For courses taught continuously for 6 semesters or for more than 3 years, if there is a plan to continue the course, the application process will be treated as a new course, requiring resubmission of documents for review, along with past performance reports.
